Postponed Firestone 600 Indy Race Resumes on 27th Aug at Texas Motor Speedway.
INDYCAR informed today its POA for resuming the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway that was abandoned half way on June 12 after completing 71 of its customary 248 laps. The Verizon IndyCar Series Competition will continue from where it was left and this will happen on Aug. 27.
The No. eighteen Dale Coyne Racing Honda driven by Conor Daly and No. twenty one Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet driven by Josef Newgarden will not be granted permission to take part in the continuation due to the elaborate chassis & engine destruction each sustained in a crash on Lap forty two. James Hinchcliffe representing Schmidt Peterson Motorsports is on the top place of the race after seventy one laps and that will be the starting point on the 27th.
Cars continuing in the race will be granted permission to use the chassis & engine of their choice for the final day. Tire allotment & fuel quantity for the 27th Aug are yet to be fixed. Pre-race aero setups from the June event will be compulsory for the Aug completion, though INDYCAR may make changes prior to the completion based on the weatherman’s report for upcoming race weekend.
The remaining 177 race laps will be run at the conclusion of the August twenty seven schedule that includes:
A compulsory systems check
A twenty-five-minute trial session
A driver autograph opportunity on the track’s concourse
Finale of the race in the evening.
Texas Motor Speedway has announced its plans for ticketing, credentialing, camping & various other fan-related & facility-based items.
